Our Story
In “2020” when all of this began…with a passion for bird/waterfowl hunting,be it in a field or water,I “Deborah” had finally convinced “Mike” my (die-hard Coonhunting Houndsman) husband who has Judged, Bred, Raised and Trained Registered Competition Coonhounds for over 30+years.. that we should get a bird dog!
We truly had never even heard of this breed, and we never could have imagined just how much this LBD would change our lives, and so….we bought our “first” Boykin Spaniel!
A beautiful little brown 9 week old female,we named Briar Rose … call name (Rose) Little did we know how our little brown ball of fire, bird crazy ,and omg Rose flushed up a little tweety bird at 3+months right in front of me and ate it! I was frantic, I just knew she was ruined lol, I knew nothing ! Rose definitely had the drive and instinct, but didn’t understand yet, that she wasn’t supposed to eat the birds lol!And so,with her amazing intelligence & natural keen instincts, over time my Rose taught me so much, we learned from each other, and Hence….our journey began. How we got into breed Boykin Spaniels….
Several months after we got Rose, life turned completely upside down ! I was diagnosed with cancer!
While training had begun in ourfields and creeks.. Rose was thriving until at 10 months old, then when my diagnosis came,in the midst of our shock and not knowing what was to lie ahead of us….everything we had been working towards stopped!
Rose never went to the field trails, where no doubt she could have definitely earned her HRC ,but she earned so much more, as she never left my side ! And for me,her love, dedication and heart to help me heal, was worth more than any “Title” could ever replace!
Fast forward… After 2 yrs, God completely healed me! We knew Rose was special, and when the time would come to breed her,the sire needed to be just as special as she was ! So Rose had 12 very healthy puppies, 8 Females, 4-Males and that… was a blessing!
